Eleven-year-old Daud is a religious Muslim boy growing up in Brooklyn. Concealing his Muslim identity, Daud ends up befriending a group of Jewish boys who mistake him for Jewish and accept him as one of their own. Daud adopts the name "David" with the Jewish boys, and or the first time he experiences a sense of freedom, joy and camaraderie. But when the Jewish boys discover his true identity, Daud's world is turned upside down and he is left alone, struggling to come to terms with his place in the world.
