Dan Topler should be on top of the world - but instead, he's on top of the Brooklyn Bridge, ready to jump until NYPD Officer Franklin pulls him back from the ledge. That means another trip to court, where the cocaine-addicted Dan is sent to rehab again. Housed in a cushy, seaside clinic called Live Free or Die on the Long Island shore, Dan is put under the care of Dr. Jacob Bernstein. Cynical and resistant, Dan just intends to put in his time. Jacob comes up with an unusual protocol for Dan: he must attend a discussion group of older men who meet at a local temple.
