Khalil, a film student, decides to make a documentary about his grandfather, Mr. Noun, a former Egyptian projectionist. The old man lives in Paris and is very close to his neighbor and confidante Anna, a prostitute from Romania. The octogenarian shares his memories of Cairo in front of his grandson's camera and talks about his former lover who died. Anna becomes involved in the project, too. Then, one day, Mr. Noun is murdered, and the documentary gives way to an investigation led by Khalil and Anna, who are assisted by the ghost of the old man himself.
