Nénette, who is intellectually disabled, has always lived with her mother, who raised her alone. When her mother dies, Nénette must move to an assisted living center, but when she finds out the place won't accept her pet turtle, she sets out to find her estranged father. Her journey leads her not to her father but to her father's son, Paul, an uptight pharmacist, who wants nothing to do with his disabled half-sister. Paul callously tries to get rid of Nénette, and only when she accidentally slips him some Ecstasy does he warm to the idea of taking care of Nénette, When he comes down from his high, however, Paul must confront difficulty questions about his life, his family and his responsibility to Nénette.
