Synopsis
Acclaimed dramatization of Tom Wicker's book recreating the incidents surrounding the 1971 revolt in New York's Attica State Prison that lasted for 23 days and resulted in the greatest casualty toll between Americans since the Civil War. Marvin J. Chomsky won an Emmy Award for his direction, and nominations went to Charles Durning as Outstanding Supporting Actor for his portrayal of Corrections Commissioner Russell Oswald, to writer James Henerson for his teleplay adapted from the account by Wicker (played in the film by George Grizzard), to editor Paul LeMastra, and to the film's battery of sound editors.
