Movie theaters across the country are FINALLY opening back up and getting back to normal which means that new movies are being released. While everyone made do last year watching new releases from home on the couch, nothing matches the movie theater experience. Seeing a movie on the big screen in those movie theater seats with surround sound, your favorite movie theater snacks, and a bunch of strangers just as excited as you — nothing quite compares.

New Movies Worth Seeing in a Movie Theater: Fast & Furious 9

Car and action fans, get ready to start your engines. Fast & Furious 9 is set to be released in theaters on Friday, June 25. The film picks up a few years after The Fate of the Furious, with Dom (Vin Diesel) and Letty (Michelle Rodriguez) living a quiet life as a family with Dom’s son. Soon enough they hit the road and join up with the whole crew to take on the latest bad guy, Jakob, who is played by John Cena.

In the trailer, we learn that Dom and Jakob are brothers, so it will be very interesting to see how this plays out with Charlize Theron’s character Cipher trying to take down Dom once again. We will all have to watch and see who wins. This is a theater must see with all the action packed adventure fans have been waiting four years to see.

Zola is based on a true story shared on a classic Twitter thread by A’Ziah King aka Zola. This insane story is so crazy you might not believe it really happened, but writer/director Janicza Bravo has taken the story and turned it into a movie of the social media age. Taylour Paige stars as Zola, a Detroit waitress who befriends Stefani, a customer played by Riley Keough. The two decided to go to Florida for a weekend of partying and dancing. What could go wrong?l

Stefani gets herself involved with the wrong crowd and things take a turn for the worse after a pimp introduces Stefani to some dangerous men. It is a wild, suspenseful 48 hours in Florida that keep you on the edge of your seat with all the twists and turns that are thrown at Zola and Stefani. It comes out in theaters on Wednesday, June 30.

Horror lovers, are you ready for the fifth and final movie in The Purge series? The Forever Purge has its cast on the run after a group of lawless murderers decides that the annual purge isn’t over. It’s supposed to be 24 hours of no laws, but one group doesn’t think the purge should ever end.

This movie was supposed to release last July but was postponed due to the pandemic. The cast, which stars Ana de la Reguera, Josh Lucas, Leven Rambin, Tenoch Huerta, Will Patton and Cassidy Freeman find themselves on the run trying to escape these mass murderers and save themselves. Will they live to tell the story? Find out in theaters on Friday, July 2.

Black Widow is one of many comic book movies coming out this year. Marvel fans, are you ready for the franchise’s first feature-length film since 2019? Black Widow has been delayed numerous times because of the pandemic but on Friday, July 9, it will finally be out in theaters! Scarlett Johansson reprises her role as the Black Widow in her first standalone movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This long-awaited movie takes place after Captain America: Civil War (2016), and it follows Scarlett’s character, Natasha Romanoff, on the run as the government tries to kill her.

This movie is definitely a must-see in theaters to witness all the action on the big screen. Afterward, you just might have to take a trip to Disneyland or the Magic Kingdom to experience the Jungle Cruise ride that inspired this movie, which releases on Friday, July 30 in theaters.
