In the final chapter in the Area 88 animated series, fighter pilot Shin Kazama is forced to shoot down a fellow pilot, adding to his reservations about his mercenary existence. His girlfriend Ryoko seeks to buy Shin's way out of the Area 88 squadron and goes to Shin's rival, Kanzaki, to help raise the money, unaware that it was Kanzaki who tricked Shin into joining Area 88 in the first place. All the while, the civil war in the Middle East escalates, forcing the Area 88 air squadron into a final stand.
