A British butler, Crichton, and the aristocratic family he serves are shipwrecked and stranded on an island. The only person with the skills to survive in this environment, roles are reversed, and Crichton is appointed the group's leader. A romance blooms between Crichton and Lady Mary Loam, but when they are rescued and return to society, all revert to the roles British society has mandated for them. Based on the stage play by J. M. Barrie.
