The spunky Jackie Saunders, who starred in a number of low-budget features, was kind of a poor man's Dorothy Gish. Here she is Alice, better known as "Sticks," a newsgirl in a tough metropolitan area. James Morgan, a wealthy young man (Arthur Shirley), frequents her stand. One day, Sticks sees a gang of thugs attack Morgan. She tries to stop them, but both she and Morgan are knocked out and left unconscious in a baggage car. They come to in a small country town and decide to stay. Morgan gets a railroad job and he shares a cottage with Sticks. Eventually, his father and his sweetheart, Ruth Borden (Ethel Ritchie), track him down. Sticks overhears them talking, and she realizes that Morgan is staying just because of her. She leaves so that he will return to his family. While sleeping on a haystack, she is discovered by a rich man who adopts her. A few years later, Morgan and Sticks -- now better known as Alice -- meet up once again, and this time they marry.
