Against the backdrop of a rapidly changing Western frontier, rancher Lee Hackett tries to raise his sons to be respectable citizens. Eldest son Ed is set off by the slightest provocation and his increasing acts of violence have his father scrambling to conceal them with favors and bribes. Meanwhile, a forbidden romance blooms between younger son, Davy and the beautiful Sioux half-breed Clee, her own brother killed by the ruthless Ed. As Ed's violent behavior escalates, the town mobilizes against him, and his father must take matters into his own hands and see that justice is served.
