Synopsis
Star-laden but sudsy adaptation of Marilyn French's feminist novel spanning the '50s and '60s, with Lee Remick as a troubled divorcee whose quest for fulfillment after dumping her caddish spouse (Ted Danson), the man she married while still in school, takes her back to college -- to the cheers of her sister suburban matrons -- where she ultimately becomes a professor. Emmy Award nominations went to the film as Outstanding Drama Special, to both Patty Duke Astin and Colleen Dewhurst as Outstanding Supporting Actress(es) and to the sound editors.
