After rescuing lumber-camp cook Olive Oyl from a watery grave, Popeye is enraged to discover that she has been booted from the camp by Pierre Bluto because he hated her spinach. "Anyone who hates spinach is my emeny!" growls the one-eyed sailor as he prepares to settle with powerful Pierre. After a lively contest in which both men display their lumberjacking skills to the tune of "I'll Do Anything That You Do", the humiliated Pierre throws his axe and pummels Popeye with his fists, leading to a soggy climax in a surging, log-infested river. Excerpts from Axe Me Another were later recycled in the 1935 "cheater" Adventures of Popeye.
