Synopsis
Part of the excellent historical series created by the Films for the Humanities and Sciences, Ancient Civilizations: Ancient Rome attempts to convey the breadth of the Roman Empire when it stretched from central Europe to north Africa, and west to Britain, France, and Spain. Historians discuss the significance of the Roman legal code, the influence of which is all too apparent in contemporary America. The stability afforded by this code would lead Rome to be one of the wealthiest and most orderly civilizations of the ancient world. Computer re-creations rebuild the glorious architecture of the Coliseum and the city of Pompeii.
