This Japanese film details the events of the World War II Battle of Manchuria. Directed by Satsuo Yamamoto, Attack at Dawn follows two brothers, Hiroshi and Shimegi, as they deal with the demands of the Japanese army and struggle with ideas of death and patriotism while all around them Japan, China, and Russia clash in a bloody conflict. Despite being pounded into emotionless fighting machines, the men begin to question whether or not they are indeed prepared to die for their country.
