Synopsis
An Alpine Echo was filmed entirely in the Good Old U.S. of A. by the Vitagraph company of Brooklyn, New York. While guiding an American tourist party through the Alps, a young man falls in love with the prettiest of the tourists. The girl is amused but doesn't take the lad seriously, and before leaving for home she writes him a "Dear John" letter. Mockingly, she invites him to drop by for a visit should he ever come to America. The clueless guide takes her up on this, leaving his hometown sweetheart behind to follow the fickle tourist to her lavish New York estate. Humiliated, spurned, and flat broke, the guide is forced to take a job in a Manhattan repair shop. It is here that he is reunited with his former sweetheart when she brings in a broken music box -- which, in a further burst of coincidence, was built by Our Hero's uncle.
