Simos Varsamidis directed this modern-day update of the classical Electra myth. Electra (Dora Hadjiyianni) lives in a mountain village,where she tries to convince Orestes (Petros Kyrimis) to murder their mother Clytemnestra (Fay Damianaki, who wrote the script). Their mother, as the legend goes, had killed their father Agamemnon, but in this version, Electra's true motive is her love for Clytemnestra's lover Aegisthus. The entire affair culminates in the standard murder, brother-sister incest, and tragedy in the true Greek sense of the word, familiar to students of Euripides' original play.
