The true story of Benny Silman and a basketball point-shaving scandal at Arizona State University in the early 1990s. Silman's flirtation with sports gambling spiraled out of control and was the catalyst for one of the most significant sports bribery conspiracies involving college athletics. He was a campus bookmaker who conspired with one of ASU's star basketball players to ensure that ASU would not cover the betting line in four games during the 1993-94 season. A federal grand jury ultimately indicted Silman and others, accusing them of sports bribery, money laundering and racketeering. Silman received a 46-month prison sentence for his role in the point-shaving scandal.
