Synopsis
The story of the conscientious objectors who refused to fight in World War II. Twelve thousand of these men performed alternative services during the war as medical guinea pigs, fire jumpers, attendants in mental institutions and in civil Public Service Work Camps while another 6000 spent the war years in prison. The program explains how their actions prepared a generation of nonviolent activists that would change American society.
