The alien symbiote known as Venom makes a big return after what his fans consider to be a slighted appearance in Spider-Man 3 with this Columbia Pictures solo outing. Seabiscuit's Gary Ross directs from his own script, which takes its cue from a previous draft by Zombieland's Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick.
