Synopsis
Sumptuous filming of Shirley Conran's sprawling best-seller about an international sex symbol's single-minded quest to find and destroy the mother she never knew -- one of three school chums, each of whom went on to fame and fortune. "Lace" is the name of the magazine one of them, Bess Armstrong, publishes. The film, incidentally, boasts one of the great lines of TV-movie lore, as petulant teenager turned hooker-model-movie star (Phoebe Cates), after luring the three women to an audience with her, asks: "All right, which one of you bitches is my mother?"
