Synopsis

A London social worker named Ann Fairlie is assigned to help a group of orphans -- including the harmonica-playing Georgie -- that lives in a poverty-stricken institution located in a rough part of town. Ann quickly forms an attachment to the children, who come from very tragic backgrounds. She is also smitten with Bill Lowther, an electrician who works on the property and has a deep bond with the children.
