A Heartfelt Trailer for Brad Pitt’s ‘Moneyball’

Often, trailers for end-of-the-year, Oscar-fodder dramas strive for real emotion and end up falling short, forcefully stuffing their message down your throat. “YOU WILL THINK THIS IS IMPORTANT,” they blare.

But occasionally, a spot comes through with enough umph that, regardless of the end product, manages to rouse even the most skeptical of movie-goers. That’s the latest Moneyball trailer to T, a thrilling look at the baseball drama that has you rooting for the underdog and holding back tears during Brad Pitt’s final words. The first trailer was interesting, this one’s invigorating.

Maybe we’re just suckers for a good ol’ fashioned sports movie (RUDY! RUDY!), but if Moneyball can deliver on its promises, it’ll be one hell of flick.

Directed by Bennett Miller and written by Aaron Sorkin and Steven Zaillian, Moneyball hits theaters September 23.
