A Private Life | 1989
In 1950, white policeman Jack Dupont meets cafe worker Stella Kleurley in Cape Town, South Africa. Light-skinned Stella is of mixed parentage, making it illegal for them to marry under apartheid. Moving to a diverse neighborhood to keep a low profile, the couple raises their son, Paul. While they struggle to have Stella legally recognized as white, Paul is prohibited from marrying his white girlfriend, Andrea.
