American Hustle a triple winner at New York Film Critics Circle Awards

David O. Russell’s Silver Linings Playbook follow-up American Hustle was given a big Oscars boost ahead of its official U.S. release after picking up the Best Picture trophy at the New York Film Critics Circle Awards on Tuesday (03Dec13). Actress Jennifer Lawrence was named Best Supporting Actress for her role in the film, while Robert Redford and Cate Blanchett took home the NYFCC’s Lead Actor and Lead Actress honours for All is Lost and Blue Jasmine, respectively.
The Best Director prize was given to Steve McQueen for 12 Years a Slave, and Jared Leto topped the Best Supporting Actor list for his transgender role in Dallas Buyers Club.
American Hustle, which is released on 13 December (13), also claimed Best Screenplay.
