Synopsis

Examines the practice of Ashtanga yoga, where practitioners follow a set series of poses six days a week, two hours a day. For New Yorkers in particular, it's an essential - sometimes obsessive - tool for achieving peace and flexibility. On September 1, 2001, the 87 year-old master of Ashtanga yoga, Pattabhi "Guruji" Jois traveled to New York City with his family to teach a one-month workshop. Ashtanga students from all over the world gathered in lower Manhattan to attend his rare, and perhaps final, master classes. After September 11th, Jois continued teaching, and through the Ashtanga practice brought solace to a grieving community.
