Atlantic closes Nashville offices

Atlantic Records has announced it will close its Nashville offices, but will remain in the country music business. The closing follows a merger of AOL and Time Warner, and warnings that the combined company would cut costs. Last year, the Nashville-based Giant Records also closed. About 15 employees, including President/CEO Barry Coburn, were notified last week about the closing, The Associated Press reports. Atlantic’s roster of country acts, including Tracy Lawrence and John Michael Montgomery among others, will be marketed and promoted by Warner Bros. in Nashville and the Atlantic office in New York, according to a statement released last week.
