23-year-old Muscovite pastry chef Kseniya's life is about to change drastically. She has a 7-year-old son, is divorced from the child's father and has a boyfriend who works in banking and is completely absorbed by his career. When she decides to marry her boyfriend, she gets a call from her ex-husband, who serves as the peacekeeper. He asks her to send the boy to his parents, who live in a remote village. Hesitantly, she complies but asks that her son should be send back to her as soon as she asks for his return. Shortly thereafter, a war breaks out; the small village is part of the epicenter. When she is not able to reach anyone and nobody seems to be able to help her, she decides to save her son on her own.
