Bank robber identified as Big Pun’s mother – report

A female bank robber in Miami, Florida has reportedly been identified as the mother of late rapper Big Pun. Gail Simpson, 63, was caught on camera on 23 September (14) walking into a Wells Fargo bank and demanding a teller hand over cash. She managed to escape with an undisclosed amount of money, but was tracked down by Miami-Dade police hours later and taken into custody.
At the time of the arrest, the woman was already on probation from a June (14) conviction for attempted armed robbery.
Multiple reports suggest Simpson’s real identity is Gail Tirado, the name of Big Pun’s mum, who is believed to have turned to crime in desperation after blowing the funds earned from the Still Not a Player hitmaker’s estate.
Big Pun, real name Christopher Lee Rios, suffered a fatal heart attack in 2000, aged 28.
The news emerges weeks after Big Pun’s widow, Liza Rios, filed suit against her husband’s mentor Fat Joe, accusing him of reneging on a deal to hand over song royalties from the late star’s discography.
