Barefoot Bandit lands movie deal to help compensate theft victims

Bosses at 20th Century Fox have secured the rights to Colton Harris-Moore’s life story for over $1 million (£625,000).

The thief pleaded guilty to seven felony charges in June (11) and faces over six years behind bars when he is sentenced in October (11).

During the height of his crimes, Harris-Moore robbed neighbours on Camano Island, Washington, and stole small aircraft and cars.

The 20 year old says, “The reason I signed the movie agreement is simple. I said that I would co-operate with a movie company only if an agreement could provide full recovery to the victims whose property I invaded and stole.”

Harris-Moore is currently locked up at the Federal Detention Center in SeaTac, Washington.
