Beyonce Knowles fasted for two weeks to lose 20 pounds for her latest film role, but she wants fans to know she still made sure she was getting the necessary vitamins and minerals.
The former Destiny’s Child star took on the drastic diet because she didn’t think she’d be able to lose the necessary weight quickly enough–before the filming of movie musical Dreamgirls began.
She says, “I wanted to make a physical transformation because I was playing this role and I wanted to be not Beyonce… It was a big sacrifice.
“I basically ate vegetables, I had a trainer, I was very healthy. I did do a two-week fast but (I took) all the vitamins and nutrients your body needs.
“I normally wouldn’t have done that for Beyonce, as a performer, but Dina, as the character, I needed to drop it really fast.”
And curvy Beyonce admits she has no plans to keep all the weight off, and has already gained back half of what she lost: “I’ve put on 12 (pounds).”
