Blade Runner 2049 and The Shape of Water top Art Directors Guild Awards

Blade Runner 2049 and The Shape Of Water were among the big winners at the 2018 Art Directors Guild Awards on Saturday (27Jan18).
The Blade Runner sequel, directed by Denis Villeneuve, was celebrated at Hollywood’s annual excellence in production design gala as the best Fantasy Film, while Guillermo del Toro’s The Shape of Water was feted for Period Film.
Both movies are shortlisted for the Best Achievement in Production Design at the Oscars in March (18).
Meanwhile, Hugh Jackman’s X-Men spin-off Logan was selected for the Contemporary Film prize, and Coco won the inaugural Animation honour.
In the TV categories, the production team behind The Handmaid’s Tale earned the One-Hour Contemporary Single-Camera Series title, and Game of Thrones designers picked up the One-Hour Period Or Fantasy Single-Camera Series accolade.
Black Mirror won the Television Movie or Limited Series category, and female wrestling series GLOW was honoured as the best Half Hour Single-Camera Series, while Will & Grace scored the Multi-Camera Series award, and Portlandia was named best Variety, Reality Or Competition Series.
