When actors and directors make a film about a real-life person, normally their goal is to be as close as possible to an accurate representation of them. When the person is still alive they can even ask them questions, but the pressure is even greater because they will judge the performance after they’ve seen the movie. When that real person is on set, doing the wrong thing can be nerve wrecking.
Open Road Film’s ‘Bleed For This’ is about World Champion Boxer Vinny Pazienza (Teller). Vinny was at the height of his career when he was in a near-fatal car accident. The doctors weren’t even sure if he could walk again, but Vinny fought back himself back into the boxing ring to make one of any sport’s greatest comeback stories.
In the above interview, Aaron Eckhart talks about his love for boxing as well as the highs and lows of the sport and Miles Teller discusses how he became Vinny Pazienza as well as how easy it is to imitate someone as well as what it was like having him on set if needed.
Bleed for This releases this Friday, November 18, 2016.
