Bobcat Goldthwait Ventures Into Found-Footage Horror with ‘Willow Creek’

Since The Blair Witch Project was released in 1999, it paved the way for found-footage horror films, resulting in the hugely popular Paranormal Activity franchise. And now, a new film’s been made in this vein. It’s called Willow Creek and is directed, somewhat surprisingly, by Bobcat Goldthwait. He’s known more for his comedy, even if it is quite dark, so it will be interesting to see his take on the horror genre.

Willow Creek follows a couple on their quest to document Bigfoot. Also like The Blair Witch Project, the couple interacts with some weird locals and gets attacked by creepy things in the woods. From the looks of the trailer, the film will take horror pretty seriously, and it’s hard to tell if we’ll see any of Goldthwait’s humor in it.

The film doesn’t have a distributor yet, but it’s an official selection of the Fantasia International Film Festival, so hopefully someone will pick it up so that we can see it in theaters. Horror movies are always better when everyone around you is screaming.
