Boston Bombing Delays David O. Russell’s ‘American Hustle’

Boston is on proverbial lockdown in the wake of the tragic bombing that took place during the city’s annual marathon race on Monday. As law enforcement undertakes its manhunt for the remaining perpetrator of the tragedy — one of the alleged bombers was shot dead early Friday on the Massachusetts Institute of Technology campus — many municipal institutions are shutting down temporarily. That goes for films shooting in the area, including David O. Russell’s Boston-set film American Bullshit.

The Fighter and Silver Linings Playbook director is suspending production on his movie — which stars Bradley Cooper, Christian Bale, and Jennifer Lawrence in a story about a late 1970s FBI operation — until further notice. As a spokesperson for Sony told The Hollywood Reporter, “The production is heeding the Governor’s request ‘to remain in doors.'” The film has been shooting in and around Boston since mid March.
