BOX OFFICE: ‘Patriot’ (Mostly) All Wet

So much for patriotism. “The Patriot” got clocked.

The Mel Gibson Revolutionary War flick took in an estimated $35.2 million over the long, Friday-Tuesday Independence Day holiday weekend — good, but nothing compared to the whopping $64 million haul credited to the non-Fourth of July-minded “The Perfect Storm.”

In fact, “The Patriot” couldn’t even make in five days what “The Perfect Storm,” starring George Clooney, made in three days (an estimated $41.7 million Friday-Sunday).

The rest of the Top Five held from the early-bird estimates issued on Sunday: “Chicken Run” (No. 3, $21 million); “Me, Myself & Irene” (No. 4, $19.5 mil); and, newbie “The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle” (No. 5, $11 mil).

Here’s a rundown of the Top 10 for the five-day holiday weekend, per the box-office trackers at Exhibitor Relations Inc.:
