Bronte manuscript sets auction record

The literary icon wrote The Young Men’s Magazine, Number 2 in 1830 at the age of 14 and it was expected to fetch between $320,000 and $480,000 (£200,000 and £300,000) when it went under the hammer at Sotheby’s auction house in London on Thursday (15Dec11).

But the Jane Eyre novelist’s early work sold for more than double its estimate, setting a new sale record for the writer and any work by the Bronte sisters.
