Camp Bestival cancelled due to extreme weather

The Camp Bestival festival in Dorset, England was cancelled on Sunday (29Jul18) due to extreme weather.
On Sunday morning, organisers for the event, held at Lulworth Castle, informed attendees on social media that the music would be starting later than scheduled due to the high winds, but after further delays, they announced the day had been cancelled completely.
“Dear Camp Bestival, we are utterly devastated and heartbroken to say that we have been advised by our safety teams that we cannot re-open arenas again today due to the severe weather and the forecasting of continual high winds and rain today,” the statement read.
“We have had the best three days in Camp Bestival’s history. It’s been our greatest ever show with all our favourite performers, shows, stages and artists which we have thoroughly enjoyed sharing with you all. You are by far the best festival audience and we love you dearly. This has been such a tough decision, but the safety of all you guys, the families, kids, and our working staff has to be of paramount importance.”
They also added that guests were welcome to stay on the site until Monday if they wanted to continue camping despite the weather conditions.
Headliners Simple Minds shared the news on Twitter, and added, “Very sorry to announce that @CampBestival has been cancelled today due to weather, so #SimpleMinds will not perform… more info below from the organisers…”
The festival began on Thursday and performers included Clean Bandit, Rick Astley and Shed Seven.
