‘Casino Royale’ Smashes Bond’s U.K. Box Office Record

Casino Royale has enjoyed the best opening weekend ever by a James Bond movie in the U.K., taking £13.4 million ($24 million) between Friday and Sunday.

The Daniel Craig-starring thriller smashed the previous record of £9.1 million ($16.4 million) held by 2002’s Die Another Day.

Bond producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Casino Royale also enjoyed the third highest opening ever at the U.K. box office, beaten only by Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire and Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest.
