‘Catching Fire’ to Catch Director Francis Lawrence

ALTGood news! Lionsgate has found its new guy to direct The Hunger Games sequel Catching Fire. After original Games director Gary Ross dropped out of the race, Lionsgate has reportedly decided to go with Francis Lawrence.

The decision came down to Lawrence and Bennett Miller, who directed Brad Pitt’s Moneyball — but in the end, Lionsgate chose Lawrence so that Miller would be free to work on Foxcatcher (Steve Carrell’s new flick).

Lawrence last worked on Water for Elephants with Robert Pattinson and Reese Witherspoon. He also directed I Am Legend with Will Smith and the 2005 drama Constantine starring Keanu Reeves.

Now that Lionsgate has reportedly tapped Lawrence, maybe he can hurry up and usher stars Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth to get the start date rolling.
