Danish airline stewardess Christa often has short-term affairs with her male passengers at her apartment in Copenhagen. Her fling with a wealthy businessman named Torben results in pregnancy. Torben wants Christa to end the pregnancy and they break up when she refuses and has a baby boy, Rolf. Christa wants to marry, but none of her lovers are willing to take on the responsibility of a family until she meets Derek, a vacationing lawyer. But just as her relationship with Derek is blossoming, Torben comes back into Christa's life to reclaim her and the baby. The angry Derek attempts to prove that Christa is an unfit mother and have her baby taken away from her and she finds herself forced to go back to Torben in order to keep Rolf. But when Torben has business problems, he kills himself and Christa reunites with Derek in the hope that they can repair their relationship and raise Rolf together.
