Producers of horror film Cloverfield are in talks to make a sequel–because the monster movie has become such an unexpected hit.
The Matt Reeves-directed film, which was shot in the style of a home movie, is about five New Yorkers attempting to escape from a giant monster.
The movie debuted atop the box office chart earlier this month with earnings of $41 million–to take the title of the biggest-ever January opening.
And film studio Paramount is keen to cash in on its success with a follow-up, according to industry publication Variety.
He says, “Only time will tell. While we were on set making the film we talked about the possibilities and directions of how a sequel can go.”
