‘Dead Man Down’: Colin Farrell Talks Fatherhood and Working With Terrence Howard

Colin Farrell in Dead Man Down

Following his latest role as a struggling screenwriter on Seven Psychopaths, Colin Farrell becomes a sort of eighth psychopath when he kills members of the mob to avenge his family in Dead Man Down. The actor teams up with the heroine and director of the original Girl With the Dragon TattooNoomi Rapace and Niels Arden Oplev — for the gritty crime drama that hits theatres on March 8.

Victor (Farrell), a Hungarian expat, manages to infiltrate a mobster organization — operated by kingpin Alphonse (Terrence Howard) — with one goal in mind: to make his boss pay for the murders of his beloved daughter and wife. As he orchestrates his vendetta, his neighbor Beatrice (Rapace) blackmails him with one of his secrets to carry out her own revenge.

Hollywood.com recently sat down with Farrell to discuss how his “experience as a dad of two wonderful boys” may — or may not — have helped him connect to the role, and his appreciation for the different types of characters he gets to play. And while Hollywood may have turned its back on Howard after Iron Man ruined his career, as Howard told Hollywood.com, Farrell had nothing but great things to say about the actor.

“Terrence really came prepared,” Farrell says of his costar. “We talked a lot in between takes sometimes. Sometimes we stayed away from each in other in between takes, depending on the scenes we were doing. But I had a great time working with him.”
