Columbia Buys ‘Big Man Japan’ Remake Rights

Oh boy. Columbia just bought the rights to remake Japan’s (obviously) Big Man Japan. And yeah, it’s about as weird as you would expect. Apparently, Japan is defended from monsters by a giant man who is charge of the Department of Monster Prevention (obviously). But it turns out he’s not so good at his job, unlike his father and grandfather. So, he brings much shame to his family. Japan to America remakes tend to stick to horror films, so it’ll be interesting to see how such a dark comedy translates across the Pacific.
