‘Da Vinci Code’ Inspiration Wanted Mel Gibson

The intellectual who inspired the Robert Langdon character in The Da Vinci Code would have picked Australian actor Mel Gibson to play him–not Tom Hanks.

Welsh physicist Dr. Robert Lomas, who has been revealed as the inspiration behind author Dan Brown‘s lead character, has been a fan of Gibson‘s strong acting ever since seeing the 1995 epic Braveheart.

Lomas says, “I’ve got nothing against Tom Hanks personally, but my wife isn’t too keen on him.

“In an ideal world I’d quite like to have been played by Mel Gibson. I keep thinking of Braveheart and I think my wife and I would be happy with him.”

The Da Vinci Code premiered at the Cannes Film Festival yesterday.
