Daniel Craig’s ‘Dream House’ Loses Rating Appeal

The MPAA announced today that its Classification and Rating Appeals Board has chosen to uphold the “R” rating bestowed upon Dream House, a mystery-thriller starring Daniel Craig, Rachel Weisz, and Naomi Watts that is due in theaters on September 30, 2011. The film, which was written by David Loucka and directed by Jim Sheridan (Get Rich or Die Tryin’), centers on a family that moves into a seemingly perfect New England home, only to discover that it was the site of a gruesome crime committed against its previous occupants. According to The Wrap, it was a few scenes with “some violence” that gave the board members pause. It’s unclear exactly what the definition of “some violence” is, but it apparently does not include people being vaporized wholesale.
