Graphic novelist Ed Brubaker is penning a big-screen adaptation of Coward, the first installment of his acclaimed Criminal series, with plans for The Twilight Saga: Eclipse helmer David Slade to direct, Variety reports. Coward centers on Leo, a legendary jack-of-all-criminal-trades who eschews firearms and won’t take on a job unless he can call all the shots. That is, until a woman lures him into a risky heist. Supposedly, the project bears similarities to Ryan Gosling’s underseen heist thriller Drive, which doesn’t bode well for its box-office prospects.
