Dead Poets Society lives again Off-Broadway

Robin Williams’ beloved drama Dead Poets Society is to be revived for the stage by screenwriter Tom Schulman.
The writer, who won the film’s only Academy Award in 1990 for Best Original Screenplay, has turned his script into a play for Off-Broadway theatre, the Classic Stage Company.
The movie featured Williams as an English teacher at a conservative all-boys prep school, where he inspires his students with poetry to make their lives extraordinary. Ethan Hawke, Robert Sean Leonard, Josh Charles, and James Waterston starred as the funnyman’s students.
Dead Poets Society, directed by Tony winner John Doyle, who also serves as the theatre’s artistic director, is slated to open in October (16).
