Denzel Washington is in negotiations to star in Universal Pictures’ Safe House, an original spy thriller written by David Guggenheim.
The project, which was the subject of a bidding war this past winter, is set in South America and, per Vulture, follows a young US intelligence agent who must go on the run with a newly arrived prisoner after his titular safe house comes under attack.
Universal has brought in director Daniel Espinoza to work through a quick rewrite with Guggenheim with an eye towards putting the film into production by fall or winter, says Variety.
