Desolation Angels | 1996
Nick and Sid have been close friends since college, although they share little in common other than the same group of friends. Nick agonizes over his troubled family and struggles to make ends meet making truck deliveries; Sid, bored and frustrated, sponges off his wealthy mother. Nick returns from a trip to Boston to discover that Sid made a pass at his girlfriend Mary during his absence. Gradually it emerges that Sid forced himself on Mary, who is too vulnerable and insecure to deal with the rape. Blind to Mary's pain, Nick becomes obsessed with his own feelings of violation. In the end, neither Nick or Mary is able to comprehend or evaluate their predicament. She is stunned and confused by what has happened and is slow to react. He is unable to control his own emotions, and spirals into a place where revenge is the only answer. Both are lost.
