The Nutcracker is possibly the most well-known Ballet and Disney is bringing it to the big screen.
‘The Nutcracker and the Four Realms’ follows a young girl named Clara (Mackenzie Foy). On Christmas Eve she is given a Nutcracker doll and her family tells her to take special care of it, after all as Drosselmeyer (Morgan Freeman) says, “anything can happen on Christmas Eve”. Clara wonders and finds her self transported to another world of Gingerbread soldiers and an army of mice.
The film has a very Tim Burton Alice in Wonderland feel to it (I was half expecting Johnny Depp or Helena Bonham Carter to pop up at any moment. The movie is directed by Lasse Hallström with Joe Johnston taking over some reshoots. It also stars Keira Knightley as the Sugar Plum Fairy, and Helen Mirren as Mother Ginger.
‘The Nutcracker & The Four Realms’ releases November 2, 2018.
